COMESA Secretariat has signed an agreement with Leading Edge Publishers to collaborate in gathering and dissemination of news and information on trade and investment in the COMESA region.
The purpose of the Agreement is to facilitate collaboration in the development of business guides of COMESA Member States in order to highlight the trade and business opportunities for investors.
Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya signed for COMESA while Ms. Isabelle Laclau, the Regional Director - Africa for Leading Edge Investment Guides signed on behalf of her organization.
Leading Edge, a London based publishing house, is currently producing an ongoing series of Business and Investment guides on Africa. COMESA Member States will be covered within the duration of the agreement; from June 2016 to December 2017.
The guides are a unique communication platform for cities, regions and countries worldwide. They examine the potential of emerging markets and offer their readership an in depth analysis of the countries in focus, identifying new trends and highlighting the existing trade, business and investment opportunities.
The ongoing African Investment Guides will portray Market Integration and will cover extensively the role of COMESA in every country guide, featuring interviews with the government and business personalities involved in the projects.
COMESA will support Leading Edge in facilitating meetings with government officials in its Member States where a Guide is being developed. At least two pages will be reserved in every guide for COMESA editorial content or advertisement.
The first publication under the partnership will be on Madagascar which is the host of the 19 COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit in October this year. Key issues in regional integration will be in focus including COMESA trade and investment promotion strategy and the Tripartite Free Trade Area agreement among others
