The Union of the Comoros received funding from COMESA to develop a National industrial strategy under the Technical Cooperation Facility, financed by the European Union to develop a National SMEs Industrial Strategy centred on value additional to local resources. According to the framework document (SCA2D) 2015-2019, which is the Accelerated Growth and Sustainable Development Strategy, the COMOROS must focus on developing growth sectors which have the potential to meet the aspirations of the populations by providing employment and income generation. Despite the existence of the National Employment Policy (NEP) and a Labour Code among other things, there is need to establish an SME-based industrial development framework so as to adopt a clear and relevant roadmap based on existing potentialities in the country and on the other hand leverage on elements that will could provide maximum impetus to the sustainable development of the growth sectors.
The main objective is to develop an SME Industrial Strategy centred on value addition to local resources.
