COMESA Election Observer Mission Meets National Electoral Commission of the Sudan

The Republic of the Sudan will conduct general elections on 13th, 14th and 15th April 2015 to elect a President and 312 members of the National Parliament, including representatives of the Legislative Council. Over 13 million voters are registered in the crucial elections which will also see women get a 30 percent representation at both National and local government levels.

Following an invitation by the Government of the Republic of the Sudan, COMESA will deploy a short-term election observer delegation to the General Elections scheduled for 13 - 15 April 2015.

Council grants Kenya sugar safeguard

The Kenyan sugar sector has been given a one year extension of the existing safeguard subject to review and renewal for another one year. The decision was made Thursday 26 March 2015 by the COMESA Council of Ministers during its two day sitting in Addis Ababa Ethiopia that begun today.
