Capacity building in Member States emphasised

COMESA is committed to ensuring that Member States have the capacity to drive the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) agenda and to own the process at country level.
Speaking during the AUC-NEPAD-RECs Joint Review and Learning Meeting at the 10th CAADP Partnership Platform, COMESA Deputy CAADP Coordinator, Dr Nalishebo Meebelo said one of the key tenets of the CAADP agenda is ownership particularly at country level.

€800,000 granted to Seychelles for regional integration

COMESA and Seychelles have signed an addendum to the grant agreement for the Member State’s regional integration implementation programme. The addendum is to make available €871,904 in support of promoting trade, addressing food security initiatives, implementing science and technology programmes and mainstreaming gender and other social affairs to enhance the regional integration agenda. The original agreement was signed in 2013.

Parliamentarians speak out on CAADP

During the 10th CAADP Partnership Platform Meeting, African Parliamentarians representing the Pan- African Parliament were given an opportunity to speak out on their perspectives of the Comprehensive Africa Development Programme (CAADP).

RECs to receive US $15m - World Bank

The World Bank has disclosed that Regional Economic Communities (RECs) will receive funding to the tune of US $15 million for rolling out Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) under the next funding cycle of Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) 2 from 2015-2020. Funding availability is contingent upon support to the MDTF2 from the different development partners.

CMI and Central Bank of Egypt in international reserve management training

The COMESA Monetary Institute (CMI) in collaboration with Central Bank of Egypt has conducted training in International Reserve Management. The training, conducted in Cairo, Egypt took place from 16 to 27 March 2014, following the decision of Governors of central banks in the COMESA region to conduct such training.
