The Director will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and ultimately oversee the implementation of the Gender Policy in the Member States and at the Secretariat. Specifically, the Director will be the focal point of the Division, responsible for overseeing the gender mainstreaming within the Secretariat and the COMESA Programmes. S(he) will also be responsible for overseeing the Social and Cultural Affairs

In addition, the Director will promote partnerships with the Private Sector, Civil Society, international and regional institutions and other stakeholders for effective implementation of the Gender Policy. Furthermore, the Director will be responsible for supervising the officers in the Division, ensuring that targets and objectives are met.
