The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa - COMESA has congratulated President Barrack Obama on his re-election as President of the United States of America after defeating Mitt Romney in a tightly contested election.
COMESA Secretary-General led the secretariat in sending congratulatory messages to US President Barack Obama on his re-election.
In his message, Sindiso Ngwenya said the re-election was a re-affirmation of the confidence the American people have in President Obama’s leadership skills.
“It gives me great pleasure on behalf of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and indeed on my own behalf, to extend to you our heartfelt congratulations on your well deserved re-election victory in the just concluded Presidential elections in the United States of America. I commend the American people for showing their confidence in your leadership”, Ngwenya said.
COMESA, as always, is proud of our association with you we therefore salute the people of the United States of America for not only enthusiastically participating in the elections but maintaining the renowned tradition of the United States of America which is the envy of all the countries in the world aspiring for democracy.
Mr. Ngwenya said that COMESA is looking forward to the deepening of relations between COMESA and the government of the States during the second term in office. He further said Obama’s re-election will reignite faith worldwide, but especially in Africa, in the restorative capacity of democracy to deliver change and discard entrenched divisions.
