Secretary-General, Mr Sindiso Ngwenya has sent a message of congratulations to the newly appointed Secretary General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni.
In his statement, Mr Ngwenya assured His Excellency Mumuni that that COMESA and the ACP group of nations will continue to benefit from the mutual relations, and from the wise counsel of the new secretary general.
“Given your background as an able legislator and campaigner for improved labour rights, trade relations, and the enhancement of the standards of living of the people of Africa, I am sure that the region will benefit from your guidance going forward,” Mr Ngwenya said. He also pointed out that Mr Mumuni has made great contributions to building and strengthening regional and continental integration within Africa in general, and the ACP nations in particular.
His Excellency Mumuni was appointed Secretary-General at the Extraordinary ACP Council of Ministers’ meeting held on 25-26 March 2013. Prior to his appointment, he was the Caretaker Minister for Foreign Affairs and regional Integration in Ghana.
