Launched at the 13th Summit of the COMESA Authority of Heads of State and Government; the COMESA Media Awards are an annual event that seeks to enhance professional reporting on COMESA activities in particular and regional integration in general.

At the 13th Summit, which took place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe in June 2009, the inaugural winners were recognised and rewarded.

Since then, the award has been held twice, at the 14th Summit of Heads of State that took place in the Kingdom of Swaziland; and the 15th Summit held in Lilongwe, Malawi.

This is, therefore, to request ALL Media Houses and Journalists in the COMESA region to mobilise their articles and productions and send in entries for the 4th COMESA Media Awards, which will take place this year, 2012.

The guidelines and rules for the awards are attached.

Kindly note that the entries submitted should be works that were published or broadcast between January and December of the year 2011, by a recognised media institution in any of the COMESA Member States. For that matter, mobilisation should not take long since the works to be submitted already exist in the different media institutions.

It is highly desirable that entries reach the COMESA Secretariat not later than 30 April 2012. This will allow the Secretariat to organise the final adjudication and all arrangements required to ensure that the winners receive their awards at the 16th Summit.
