The COMESA-EAC-SADC tripartite arrangement has given Zambia funding amounting to 29.85 million dollars for road improvement projects under the north south corridor.

The financing has been disbursed by the development bank of southern Africa under the tripartite trust account spearheaded by common market for east and southern Africa –COMESA-, SADC and the eastern African community.

Zambia’s Acting president and minister of finance Alexander Chikwanda has expressed hope that the road improvements will make regional trade easier, saying that an increase in exports for Zambia will also be recorded as the transportation system will be improved.

And COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya thanked the British Government for making it possible for the tripartite to implement infrustructure projects in the region.
