
Lusaka, Zambia — 21 October 2025 — The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), in collaboration with ZEP-Re (PTA Reinsurance Company), is proud to announce the inaugural COMESA and ZEP-Re Golf Tournament, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 23rd October 2025.
ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company) is a COMESA institution and a cornerstone of the region’s reinsurance sector acting as an enabler of financial risk management solutions. COMESA and ZEP-RE’s shared history is deeply intertwined with COMESA’s commitment to boosting intra-regional trade, enhancing the resilience of economies, and fostering a thriving, and diversified market across the African continent
The COMESA/ZEP-Re Golf Tournament aims to foster regional integration and collaboration through sport, while also promoting wellness and social engagement among stakeholders in the public and private sectors. The event will feature competitive play, special awards, and a closing ceremony to celebrate excellence and participation.
“We are thrilled to partner with ZEP-Re in organizing this landmark tournament,” said COMESA’s Acting Secretary General who is also the Assistant Secretary General in charge of Administration and Finance Dr. Dev Haman, adding that, it “aligns well with our shared values of fostering regional partnerships and stakeholder engagement and reflects our shared commitment to building strong regional ties not only through trade and development, but also through shared experiences”.
ZEP-Re ‘s Country Manager for Zambia and Malawi Mr. Owen Munthali said, “today we celebrate the insurers, reinsurers and brokers who collaborate with us to expand risk capacity, innovate products and protect communities across COMESA Member States and beyond”. He further said “ ZEP-Re celebrates our partnership with COMESA and its Member States and reiterate our commitment to building risk solutions that enable investment and protect communities across the region,”.
This event will bring together over 110 players from the insurance fraternity across the country in addition to seasoned players and golf enthusiasts, for a day of sport and networking. The tournament will be hosted at the Lusaka Golf Club, one of Zambia’s premier golfing venues, known for its lush greens.
