Nairobi, Thursday, August 16, 2018: Trade and Customs experts from the 21 COMESA Member States holds their 34th meeting, Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi. The meeting will consider the reports of the third Trade and Trade Facilitation Sub-Committee and the Fourth Heads of Customs Sub-Committee that have been meeting at the same venue since Monday this week.
Among the key issues under discussions by the Customs experts was on the implementation of the Digital Free Trade Area, the review of COMESA Rules of Origin and Regulations for implementation of the COMESA electronic certificate of origin.
Trade experts whose meeting came to an end, Thursday August 16, 2018 discussed the following: The reports by Member States not participating in the COMESA Free Trade Area, Non-Tariff Barriers in the COMESA Region, the Kenya Sugar Safeguard and updates on the Tripartite FTA Negotiations and the African Free Trade Africa Free Area negotiations and update on the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA): Regional Strategy on AGOA utilization among others.
