There are several regional organizations that work in collaboration with COMESA. These are:
- East African Community (EAC),
- Inter- governmental Authority on Development (IGAD),
- Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and
- Southern African Development Community (SADC).
COMESA has excellent working relations, both formally and informally, with all these regional organizations. Memoranda of Understanding have been signed with EAC, IGAD and IOC such that these organizations have agreed to adopt and implement the COMESA trade liberalization and facilitation programme.
COMESA and SADC have also set up a Joint Task Force to harmonize their programmes; and under the Tripartite Arrangement, COMESA, EAC and SADC have embarked on the implementation of programmes in Climate Change mitigation, infrastructure development and trade, among others.
