Sudan has signed a €2.2 million grant under the 10th European Development Fund to support its Institutional and Productive Capacity Building Project. This brings the total financing granted to Sudan under the COMESA Adjustment Facility (CAF) to over €3.4 million.
Sudan’s Minister of International Cooperation, Mr. Idriss Suleiman (R) and COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya signed the grant on Friday, May 11, 2018.
The Project seeks to enhance capacities of government institutions in Sudan to produce harmonized statistics in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), industrial statistics and import and export statistics.
To improve the investment climate and attract more FDI to Sudan, the Project will collaborate with implementing partners such as the African Leather and Leather Products Institute to support the development of the sector.
This is by providing market information on livestock and related products, capacitating centers of excellence, implementing traceability systems for leather value chain, and facilitating trade linkages in the livestock value chain.
