The Twenty-ninth meeting of the COMESA Committee on Legal Affairs is taking place in Lusaka from 16 – 20 June 2025 to review the draft revised COMESA Competition Commission Regulations and the Draft revised COMESA Competition Commission Rules.

These instruments will facilitate an effective implementation of programmes and management of the COMESA Competition Commission as it discharges its mandate, aims and objectives.

Speaking during the opening session, COMESA’s Assistant Secretary General for Programmes Amb. Dr Mohamed Kadah stressed the importance of the Committee on Legal Affairs and its crucial role of refining draft community legislation which advances the COMESA regional integration programme.

“Your unparallelled work ethic has over the years produced quality draft legal instruments for COMESA and stands testament to your dedication and paying meticulous attention to detail,’’ Dr. Kadah said.

The meeting is only considering the two drafts for the COMESA Competition Commission which were not reviewed in the November 2024 Legal Affairs Committee Meeting due to a heavy agenda.
